Have You Been Born Again?

My intention with this blog post is to make you doubt your salvation, question your security, and get you to believe that you are not a Christian. It is also my intention by the end of this post that you will not doubt, question, or disbelieve whether or not you are saved. There is a method to the madness.

Believing there is a God will not save you.

Praying to God will not save you.

Tithing will not save you.

Going to church will not save you.

Saying amen will not save you.

Voting Republican (or Democrat, Independent, Libertarian, Whatever) will not save you.

Doing good deeds will not save you.

Being an American will not save you.

Being nice will not save you.

Having a good heart will not save you.

Feeling emotional and loving God will not save you.

Trying your best will not save you.

If all of these things could save you, you could have done this on your own, and Jesus would not need to have died.

There are people who have done amazing things in God's name that will hear Him say He never knew them.

Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?' Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!' Matthew 7:22-23

And so I ask you a simple question.

Have you been born again? Have you received the new birth? Do you know what that is?

A religious man named Nicodemus met with Jesus under the cover of night in the third chapter of the book of John. Jesus told him that no one could see heaven unless they were born again.

Jesus said:

“Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit."

No one who hasn't been born again gets into heaven. No one.

How does a person become born again?

"in whom ye also, having heard the word of the truth, the gospel of your salvation,—in whom, having also believed, ye were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise". Ephesians 1:13

When you believed the world of salvation, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit -- in other words, born again.

What is this word of salvation? Jesus told Nicodemus what that was:

"Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up,  that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.” John 3:14-15

Nicodemus was already a good man. He was a teacher of the law. Nicodemus was a nice man. He was kind to Jesus. He made room for Jesus. He spoke with Jesus. It wasn't enough.

The Bible says that all have sinned have fallen short of the glory of God. Because of this, we cannot approach Him. He is holy. It is only by the blood of Jesus that we can have eternal life and a right standing with God the Father.

'Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.' John 14:6

Jesus paid our debt when He died on the cross of Calvary. This is because the Bible says that without the shedding of blood there can be no remission of sins.

He paid our way. John 1:29 says,

“Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!"

Being good doesn't take away the sin of the world. Singing in the choir doesn't away the sin of the world. Giving money to the homeless doesn't take away the sin of the world.

Only Jesus does.

Understand that you are a sinner and that you have broken God's commandments at one time or another. You have broken His commandments not to lie, steal, lust, dishonor your parents, and possibly more.

You have no hope without Jesus. The Bible says that your righteousness is like filthy rags.

But all you have to do is believe that He died to take your punishment on the cross and that He rose again 3 days later.

John 3:16 says:

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."

And Romans 10:13 says:

For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved".

An example of this is found here in Acts 16:30-31

And he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”  So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.”

Pray like this: 'Heavenly Father, I am a sinner. Forgive me of my sins as I accept Jesus as my Savior. I believe Jesus died and rose again on the 3rd day. In Jesus's name I pray. Amen'.

And that's it. Believe He died to pay for your sins and you will be saved. You will be born again.

Share this post with others, and share the message of salvation. God bless!

I do live my life as a Christian and although the journey is not always an easy one, it is a very fulfilling one. Also, I know what I am working for and toward and that is everlasting life. Great article to make one really consider their faith versus function.
