If You Could Wear A Label, What Would It Say?

If I could wear a label, it would say this: I'm hurting. I've been abused. Tread carefully. If you could wear a label it might say, I'm lonely. I've been rejected.

Another person's might say something like, 'I'm addicted and I can't break free.'

Still another's might say: I just need a friend. Please don't judge me right now.

The girl next to you would have one that says, I don't know who my baby's father is and I'm scared.

Another might have a label that just says: 'broken'.

We can't see the labels of those around us, nor can others see the ones affixed to us. You might come off as angry, when you're really just hurting. Another might come off as desperate when she's just very  insecure. Rejection and pain can do funny things to the heart and mind. How much more differently would we treat one another if we could see past the surface. It would be a great destroyer of our pride if we could do so.

And though we can't see one another's labels, Jesus can see beneath all the things we try to hide under. He can see through our pride, our achievements, our bitterness and ambition to who we really are. In Genesis, Hagar referred to Him as the God who sees.

He sees and will not break an already broken heart. Isaiah says that, 'a bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench'. Matthew 11:28 says, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest

And if you know Jesus, despite all you've been through, you can wear another label. That of Redeemed, restored, forgiven and adored. I don't know about you, but those are labels I would wear willingly any day.
